Welcome to the world of threads, color and design. I primarily create geometric patterns. This is where my esthetics naturally go. This is the place to share ideas and inspire the joy of needlepoint.

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays,

I haven't posted in a looooong time. I rarely get sick. An occasional sinus infection or allergy in the spring. I got so sick, this time, with an upper respiratory infection that my dear husband even fixed dinner and did the dishes on the worst days.......my DH is old school thinking when it comes to 'women's work'. So for him to do this was a big deal. I still have a hacking cough. But, it is getting better each day.

I am headed for the Santa Cruz area on Friday, to my daughter June's home. I will help her with the baking and shopping and other preparations for Christmas. At one time or another all of the family will show up at her house so it will be a special time. I haven't seen her home, just photos so I'm looking forward to that. June is the artist in the family. She designed both my web site and this blog.

Speaking of blogs.....I will have her show me how to put up photos and charts and then I can start the 'Hilton Stitch Tutuorial' after the holidays.

I wish everyone a most happy, healthy and prosperous Holiday Season and New Year.

Monday and Laundry

Hi,
What a creature of habit I have become.  It's Monday and I have to do the laundry.  I could do it any time I want as there's just my husband and myself.

Happy Dance time.....I finished the instructions for Atlantis Rising.  Now it's going out to my ghost pilot stitchers for corrections.  I'd like to start on the instructions for Illusions, but I have to get my lessons ready for the ANG Cyber class, Harmony.  The class doesn't start until March, but with registrations starting in November and the holidays coming in between I need to get a handle on those lessons.
And, we are off to California this weekend for our granddaughter, Nicole's wedding.

Hope all are well and having fun stitching.

Time and the Russians

Hi everyone,
I've been working on charts for Atlantis Rising and on a new(unnamed as yet) design, along with finishing designing Legacy and Aloha.  I need to get the last two stitched if I want to submit them in January for seminar 2013.  That means I don't have time right now to learn how to put photos up on the blog.  I will learn in time.

I just got an email from Tatyana, my Russian friend.  She gave me two sites to show what the Russians are doing with needlework.

No matter what side of the world we are on, when it comes to needlework, we all love to sit and stitch, chat and enjoy each others accomplishments.

Back to work for me.  Take care, Ro

Stitch-ins and pilot classes

We had our monthly stitch-in Saturday. We discussed everything from soup to nuts. Show and tell is always great.

I finally finished all but two stitches that I have to detail on Atlantis Rising. Making progress.

Liz Morrow has designed a new piece, Mad Miters, that she will be teaching as a cyberclass for the Cyber Chapter and we will be piloting it for her. I've read through the instructions...I do that sometimes, usually when all else fails. I'm ready to get canvas and threads out. Starting something new is always exciting. And this style of working bargello is new, unusual and looks like fun. http://www.cyberpointers.org/education.html

Being a good girl and working hard

I've kept my nose to the grindstone and have been working hard on putting together the instructions for Atlantis Rising.  Almost finished. At present she's over 60 pages.  That's a lot, but she's a complex piece.
Once finished Ishould have the time to figure out how to get a photo of her put up here.
I'm teaching my f2f pilot stitchers this Saturday.  I'm looking forward to that.
Happy stitching, Ro

To Russia with Love

Tatyana is a stitcher who lives in Russia.  She found my website and led her friend Olga to me.  I am becoming friends of the Russians.

Here is one of their blogs.  http://lolenya.gallery.ru/watch?ph=S9K-dkh1B  Gorgeous work and her camera work is enviable.  I wish I could speak Russian so I could understand everything on her blog.

It doesn't matter where you live on the world, stitching is stitching.

Best, Ro

Well, my intentions of getting so much work done went up in air.....my dear husband brought home a summer cold and shared it with me.  Last Friday I could feel it starting to work on me and by Saturday I was a zombie.  When I sat down I was asleep in seconds, but when I stood up I had to sit down quickly or I would feint.  I gave up and just staid in a horizontal position.  Today is Tuesday and I'm able to sit without falling asleep.  But, my energy goes very fast.  So, it'll be a bit before I can get some more stuff up on here.  Sorry, Ro

Seminar and Ribbons

Hi,

Congrats to Penny Boswinkle who won a second place ribbon for 'Heart Strings'.  And, to Arlene who takes such great photos during seminar and won an honorable mention for her version of 'Queen Anne's Lace'.  I'll have to look some more to see if I missed anyone.  It's exciting to see stitchers winning ribbons with my designs.

I also checked on the two pieces I'm teaching next year at seminar.  'Atlantis Rising' is upside down.  I asked a friend if she could get them to turn it around.  And, 'Illusion' was taken at an angle and looks really wide.  It's square.

I miss not going to seminar, but I'm glad I staid home.  I have too much work to catch up on.
Take care, Ro

Last Friday the kids started to arrive for our annual celebration of my husband/their dads birthday. Some stayed with us and others headed for hotels....we have a few of those here in Vegas.  It was a great time.  It was also non-stop from the time we got up till we fell into bed.  The last of them left this morning.  I'm glad to have the house back to myself and yet I do miss them.  Now it's time for me to get back to working on 'Atlantis Rising' and sending out some orders.  Take care and happy stitching, Ro

I want to welcome all of my web site followers to my blog.  I hope you will enjoy this blog as much as I will enjoy filling it up with new designs and stitching info.

Do you stitch because you like to? For family heirlooms? For gifts?  Stitching should be fun no matter why you do it.  If it ain't fun you may want to rethink what motivates you to stitch.

With all of the pressure of deadlines, computer glitches, sleepless nights designing in my head or on my lap top I wouldn't give it up.  I'm having too much fun to change what I do.

Thank you for motivating me, for opening up that space that allows me to do what I love.  Without you I'd still be doing it, but it's so much more fun when you have someone to share it with.

Happy stitching, Ro

General talk.

As soon as I can get photos up I will notify all of you who have asked me to do so.
Right now I am working on the instructions/charts/etc of a new design,  Atlantis Rising.  I will be teaching it at Seminar 2012.  It's a complex design, but if you take it in small bites it's not a difficult design to stitch.  And, I'd better make sure my instructions are easy to understand.  Had I started this blog early enough I would have show it in progress.
I hope to do that with the other piece I will be teaching at seminar next year, Illusion.
In the mean time it's work, work, work.  It's a good thing I like what I'm doing.

Happy stitching everyone, Ro

I do have plans for this blog spot, but it's all in the early stages.  I'm almost ready to start a new design and plan to use the blog to show how my designs develope.

But, first I have to figure out how to transfer my photos to the blog.

So, keep checking in.  Ro

Blog under construction

It will  take some time for me to get familier with the workings of a blog.  But, I will get there.  My daughter, June, has built this so I can get started.

I hope to be able to show you the beginning, the middle and the end of a design.  I want to be available to answer your questions and help you get started doing your own designs.

More to come, Ro

Hi all.

Welcome
